			Poetry and short fiction guidelines We welcome your submission of poetry or short fiction to artlook Here are some points to note: Send no more than three pieces at a time. It is preferred that the work is previously unpublished. Copyright rests with the author. Stories must be less than 1000 words. The Editor and Literary Editor reserve the right to edit the work in consultation with the author. Payment is made on publication. Payment for poetry is $25 per poem, and short fiction is $50 per story. Include your name, contact number and address on your submission. Emailed submission is preferred, and should be sent to the editor as below. If you send hardcopy, make sure that you have a copy as posted submissions will not be returned. A SSAE must be included for our notification of acceptance or otherwise. The editor artlook magazine PO Box 6096 Kingston ACT 2604 Non-fiction artlook publishes articles and reviews on the arts and artists in Australia, giving particular emphasis to events and people living in Canberra and the region. We are always looking for new writers—and not only those with a specialised knowledge. For your guide there are a number of things you need to know: • Send one or two pieces at a time—by email or on disk • (please include a hardcopy with your disk) • Enclose a SSAE for the return of your manuscript • The work must be previously unpublished • Copyright rests with the author • Articles vary but are generally between 700-1200 words • The Editor reserves the right to edit the work • Payment on publication Keep artlook's publication dates and deadlines in mind. We publish on the first of the month and the deadline for copy is the 17th of the month prior to publication. Content of each issue is decided in the first week of the month prior to publication. Consider pitching your idea first. We commission 100 per cent of the work that appears in each issue so if you don't pitch your idea first you may be wasting your time. You are welcome to phone, fax or email the artlook office with any queries. Photographs and other images are welcome but should be accompanied by the creator’s approval for the works to be reproduced in artlook .
