I was the man in Munch's 'Scream'
I was the man in Munch's 'Scream' it was me who modelled for him. How do you want me to stand? I'd ask. 'I don't care.' he'd say. 'No, no! Sit over there!' Here? 'No! No! There! No, don't sit! Squat. Draw you lips back - no, don't smile!' 'Try leaning over there.' 'What if you jump up and down? And look sad.' Like this? 'No, sadder. Depressed. Forlorn. Hopeless. Helpless. Frustrated. No, don't squint!' But, the glare... 'I don't care about the sun! Alright, poke your tongue out. No, I don't like it. Clench you teeth instead. Now wave your hands about! Not like that. Try putting them on your hips. On your shoulders then...'
